|
The Art department provides an environment where students are encouraged to attain an open-minded attitude toward different forms of expression. As young artists, they are also taught specific techniques for the development of visual and analytical skills. Students from the art department have achieved local and national recognition; in addition, many graduates pursue successful art careers. Music Department: A requirement of all major performing organizations is consistent participation in lessons or sectional rehearsals as port of the course content. Lessons will be scheduled on a rotating basis and will meet a minimum of once a week. Membership in these groups requires the recommendations of the instructors.

Bilingual Department: |
Students identified as limited English proficient (LEP) are tested and placed in course of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) which will assist them in the acquisition of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, regardless of their native language. Content-area courses conducted in the native language offer our new and recent arrivals an opportunity to earn credit for courses required for graduation while they are still in the process of acquiring proficiency in English. |

The appropriate placement of students into mathematics courses is essential in meeting the individual needs of our students, and in creating an effective and efficient teaching environment in the department. Therefore, decisions on course placement should be made on the basis of realistic perceptions and informed judgments. Good decisions will give students the confidence they need to feel successful and will ensure that they have a sound foundation for the future study of mathematics. |
