Mission Responsibilities
The CapCom (Capsule Communicator) is the authorized voice of Mission Control. He is the primary communicator between the astronauts and the ground controllers. As an astronaut who has gone through the same rigorous training as the astronauts in flight, the CapCom is able to convey any nuances to the Flight Director that might affect the success of the mission.
